Celebrating the African Diaspora Through Art: Peace, Love & Unity at Venezia, Italy

Celso González

The Consolato Rem Brega Foundation, following its remarkable participation in the 60th edition of La Biennale di Venezia - Biennale Arte, presents the international exhibition Peace, Love & Unity. This cultural project, curated by Sitor Singhor, brings together three Afro-descendant artists—N’Dorah, Celso González, and Ernest Dükü—to explore themes of identity, unity, and transformation within the context of the African diaspora.

N’Dorah, a Sawa artist based in Venice, combines abstraction and symbolism in her works inspired by her roots in Abidjan. Her pieces emphasize the fluidity and interconnectedness of humanity, offering a reflection on unity and the strength of community bonds.

Celso González, originally from Loíza, Puerto Rico, a town renowned for its rich Afro-Caribbean heritage, addresses the intersection of tradition and modernity. His art celebrates Afro-Caribbean identity, highlighting themes such as resilience, pride, and cultural preservation.

Ernest Dükü, from Abidjan, brings a vibrant energy to his works, using bold colors and dynamic textures to narrate stories of reconciliation, memory, and collective hope. His creations pay tribute to the strength and shared dreams within the diaspora.

This exhibition not only celebrates the diversity and richness of Afro-descendant perspectives but also highlights the power of art as a cultural bridge and a catalyst for global understanding. Peace, Love & Unity symbolizes an intercultural exchange that fosters connection and healing among communities separated by geography but united by shared histories.
