Pedro Albizu Campos fue una de las figuras más destacadas del siglo XX en Puerto Rico, el Caribe y América Latina. Su Valor y Sacrificio por la justicia social, la dignidad y la independencia de Puerto Rico se encuentran entre los ejemplos más notables de compromiso con una causa. Albizu fue mucho más que una figura política; fue un maestro, un visionario y un hombre profundamente religioso que anticipó la teología de la liberación.
Él fue y sigue siendo la conciencia de Puerto Rico. El viaje crucial de Albizu ha tenido una influencia duradera en el movimiento independentista y la sociedad puertorriqueña.
Los invito a explorar el legado multifacético de Albizu a través de la lente del arte. A través de pinturas, técnicas mixtas y obras digitales que reflejan interpretaciones artísticas de Albizu en varios movimientos artísticos históricos, embarquemos en un viaje a través de su vida, sus logros y el significado duradero de su mensaje.
Carlos García Cintrón es doctor en Psicología Clínica. Experimenta con las artes visuales a través de la fotografía desde 1979. De formación autodidacta, comienza a pintar en 1996. Ha participado en numerosas exposiciones colectivas y siete individuales, dos de las cuales llevan por título *”Albizu”* y *”Pedro Albizu Campos: Cuarenta años de inmortalidad”,* ambos en el Museo de las Américas. Una de sus obras fue subastada en la casa de subastas Christie 's de París. Sus obras se encuentran en colecciones de Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos, Europa y Sudamérica, incluida una obra de gran formato de Albizu titulada *”El Apóstol”*, que forma parte de la colección del Salón Libertadores y Héroes Sociales de Latinoamérica. y el Caribe, Ministerio del Poder Popular para Relaciones Exteriores del Gobierno Bolivariano de Venezuela.
Esta exhibición y programación pública es posible gracias al apoyo del Departamento de Desarrollo Juvenil y Comunitario de la Ciudad de Nueva York, la vicepresidenta del Concejo de la Ciudad de Nueva York, la Honorable Diana Ayala, el Departamento de Asuntos Culturales de la Ciudad de Nueva York, el Consejo de las Artes del Estado de Nueva York, la Zona de Empoderamiento del Alto Manhattan, Material for the Arts, The Puerto Rican Workshop, Inc., Ponce Bank, Goya Foods y contribuyentes individuales.
