The Ranch is pleased to announce its participation in Art Basel Miami Beach 2023 with a solo presentation of the Puerto Rican sculptor Daniel Lind-Ramos.

The presentation will unveil Lind-Ramos’s most recent work “Centinelas de la luna Nueva,” (2023). Part of a new series that references a local Mangrove between his Loíza and the fishing hub of Pinones. The mangrove is vital to the preservation of the natural environment—providing a crucial intertidal ecosystem that helps prevent storm surges and flooding in the surrounding coastal neighborhoods. These contingent trees, once at risk by exploitation by sugarcane companies that cut down the trees to facilitate a railroad system that allowed industrial development, are now being protected by local activist groups.

This ecocritical line of inquiry has directed Lind-Ramos’s production since staging his acclaimed solo exhibition at MoMA PS1 “El Viejo Griot- Un Historia de todos nosotoros” (April 20-September 4, 2023), where the artist presented the inaugural sculpture of this new body of work.

Art Basel Miami Beach, the leading art fair in the Americas, is set to return with a flourish for its 2023 edition. The fair, which will take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center from December 8-10, with preview days on December 6 and 7, is expanding its offerings with a rich array of galleries, installations, and cultural events.
