“Sensing Plants” by Rebecca Lynn Gonzalez
Artistic inspiration started for Rebecca Lynn Gonzalez when her anxiety got in the way of social interactions with her peers and family during her college years. A Puerto Rican born and raised in New York, she found relief of her over thinking while creating her anatomy - surrealism plants. Growing from anxiety and mental illness are the influences which inspires her continuous work today.
My artwork takes a harsh view into my anxiety’s influences on my growth through my early adulthood. In my artwork, I’ve molded my longing to grow through my mental illness and become more than my anxiety’s influences. I demonstrate the realities of accepting my anxiety and its effects on my relationships.
