DEFEND PUERTO RICO ART EXHIBITION

DEFEND PUERTO RICO:
The exhibit is designed to document and celebrate Puerto Rican creativity, resilience, and resistance. Featuring 100 Puerto Rican artists from the island and the diaspora, in the hopes of nurturing greater solidarity, collaboration, and kinship. This traveling exhibit seeks to deepen connections between Puerto Ricans on the island and throughout the diaspora.
The opening will be aligned with the 100 year anniversary of the Jones Act, Puerto Ricans becoming U.S. citizens, and English becoming the first language of Puerto Rico. Artists are encouraged but not limited to creating works around this theme. Other themes could be moments in history, celebrating our heroes, Puerto Rican migration, or the current crisis.
Painting, drawing, mixed media, photography
If you are creating mixed media work, please be sure your work is mounted on something solid that is 12"x12" square. Please do not exceed these measurements due to space and shipping limitations.
- Open to Puerto Rican artists from the island and the diaspora.
- All works must be in Black and White to be accepted. These colors represent our resistance and solidarity
- All work must be 12”x12” (if mixed media or sculpture, it must be mounted on and not exceed a 12”x12” base to be hung on the wall)
- All art must be on display for the duration of all exhibitions throughout 2017
January 20, 2017: Deadline for submissions
January 27, 2017: Deadline for notification of artists
February 17, 2017: Deadline for art to be received

Artists are responsible for shipping of their work.
