Conversatorio “Cruce de miradas: artista y ciudad” por el Dr. Daniel Expósito y Elizabeth Robles en la Fundación Casa Cortés, San Juan



SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO – La Fundación Casa Cortés invita al público el sábado, 27 de
agosto a las 2:00 p.m. a “Cruce de miradas: artista y ciudad”, un conversatorio enfocado
en la exhibición “Crónica(o)” facilitado por el historiador del arte Dr. Daniel Expósito y la
profesora y artista plástica Elizabeth Robles. Juntos, ellos seguirán el rastro por las calles de
las ciudades y zonas urbanas que los artistas de esta exhibición, el puertorriqueño Eduardo
Lalo y el cubano Carlos Garaicoa, presentan en sus obras. La entrada a esta actividad será
libre de costo.

Elizabeth Robles, en su práctica artística, reúne diversos medios y disciplinas. Entre los
museos y espacios donde ha expuesto localmente se encuentran: el Museo de Arte de Puerto
Rico (mediante la Beca Lexus); Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico; Museo de Arte Dr. Pío López Martínez en la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Cayey; Instituto de
Cultura Puertorriqueña; Galería de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Mayagüez; la
Liga de Arte de San Juan; y El Cuadrado Gris. En el 2014, publicó su poemario “Rescoldo
Arrebol” y el “Libro de las fechas”. Entre sus performances se encuentran: “Trote en Furor”,
“Halar del Hilo”, “34 soles para Oscar” y “el colectivo de lo impreciso”. Este año, como parte de su Taller Vivo en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico, desarrolló un proyecto
urbano colaborativo junto a Eugenio Ballou, el cual tuvo como resultado una serie de
impresiones en distintas aceras de la Avenida Fernández Juncos.



Daniel Expósito posee un doctorado en Historia del Arte de la Universidad de Granada,
España. Actualmente, es Catedrático Auxiliar en el Programa de Historia del Arte de la Facultad de Humanidades de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras. Ha impartido conferencias en instituciones nacionales e internacionales sobre el arte puertorriqueño de los siglos XIX y XX, centrándose especialmente en el estudio de la cerámica y las relaciones entre arte y poder. Entre sus artículos más recientes se destacan: “Más allá de la vasija: La cerámica de Bernardo Hogan a través de sus exposiciones (1984-2005)”; “El sueño del artesano: Breves notas sobre la obra temprana de Jaime Suárez (1969-1975)”; y “Sobre la posibilidad de elegir: Algunas consideraciones en torno al Taller ‘Series en riesgo’ de Elizabeth Robles”. Igualmente, es miembro del Aula Latinoamericana de Pensamiento y Creación Contemporáneos, y de la Red de Patrimonio Cultural Centroamericano, ambos grupos impulsados desde la Universidad Pablo de Olavide en España.

La Fundación Casa Cortés es una de las iniciativas más recientes de responsabilidad social empresarial de Cortés Hermanos. Es una organización sin fines de lucro que tiene como misión principal: educar e inspirar con nuestra pasión por las artes del Caribe y donde se exhibe una selección de obras de arte contemporáneo de esta empresa, la principal procesadora de cacao de la región.
