PR ART NEWS – The depiction of the human figure in art goes
back so far that it has always been there. From small Paleolithic figurines to
the ceiling of the sistine chapel and from the paintings of Pablo Picasso to
the conceptual self portraits of Cindy Sherman; the human figure proliferates
art history. Throughout the 20th century, various trends in the art world
claimed that figurative work was dead but today, this is something that we know
to be false.
The exhibition The Human Figure demonstrates that figurative
artwork is alive and well in 2016. Through painting, photography, drawing,
sculpture, and printmaking; this exhibition offers many unique points of view
and a wide variety of styles and techniques.
A
national juried exhibition devoted to the human form, featuring 27 artists from
across the country. This exhibition was juried by Jonathan Binstock, director
of the Memorial Art Gallery,Rochester,
José
