New York - Rafael
Colon is a former US Marine and self taught artist born in Puerto Rico and
raised in the Bronx. Inspired by history as told to him by his Chinese
grandfather, his travels with the Marines and a long standing interest in the
discipline and detailed work of Asian artists. Bringing this style into the
modern era, Colon creates wood-burned, hand-painted images is inspired by the
Japanese Woodblock style on skateboard decks as well as traditional watercolor
pieces.
His exhibit
is showing until the Closing Reception on April 12th from 6-8 PM at Art on A
Gallery, 24 Avenue A, New York, New York 10009.
